As the strike continues to bite harder, I was wondering at what stage in the 2021/2022 calendar are we supposed to be by now? Recall that the first semester of 2021/2022 session started 21st January, 2022. From January 21st, 2022 till date (May 3rd) is exactly 3 months, 1 week, 5 days. Then counting as weeks, this is already 14 weeks, 4 days. This is already more than the average 13 weeks found in a semester. However, we cannot actually count the semester by the 13 weeks but in accordance with the available timetable.

So now, according to the timetable, where are we supposed to be by now? Let’s check the timetable and see what’s up.

Since today is May 3rd, that means both GST exams and all Faculties would have started first semester exams. This means by now, Faculty of Education would have concluded Department and Faculty courses. Only those with borrowed courses would still be around with all other Faculties writing their borrowed courses.

Senate would have considered results by June 29th and graduates who paid school fees late would have gotten their clearance done soon after June 29th.

As at today, the NDU has lost 2 months, 2 weeks and 5 days to the strike. Owing to the verifiable fact that NDU is a very fast university, it is believed that after resumption, management would no longer be giving the remaining time to complete the semester as much time would have been wasted.

Before the ASUU strike of February, 14th, 2022, the NDU 2021/2022 first semester was only 3 weeks, 3 days old. Meaning according to the timetable, remove the 3 weeks and 3 days, the semester was remaining 3 months on the dot to conclude. It is clear from previous occurrence that the 3 months may not be obtainable as management will constrict time to meet up with lost time.

When school resume, management may give few weeks for classes and revision. I can bet you on this. Whatever you see, you manage. Provided time is met. There is nothing to be afraid of here. IT will always be fine. Just a little more preparation and we all good to go.

As at the time of filing this report, there is no sign that the strike would be called off soon. The May 14th being published online is the end of the second deadline given by ASUU. Recalled that it was a one month warning strike which ended March 14th. Then because of unending meetings, ASUU extended it by 2 months. The 2 months was to end May 14th from where it will enter indefinite strike if federal government refused to do anything tangible.
