The Federal University Otuoke have allegedly told its students to commit suicide and die if they are not ready to suspend their studies as a result of late course registration. The statement was credited to the Dean of Students Affairs whom students consulted to resolve the university’s decision to that all students who have been unable to process their course enrolment should suspend their studies till the next session.
Students investigated earlier stated that they although some students have not applied, many already completed their application but the ICT unit had issues where some enrolments were deleted, some courses which were registered were later automatically deregistered amongst other glitches.
This made the students to confront the Dean of students for resolution of the matter. The students who beseeched the Dean for amicable settlement were met with disappointment when the Dean insisted they should defer their studies. The students are also alleging that the Dean also told them to go and commit suicide and die if they are not willing to defer their admission.
Hence, the students have resorted to the last C of the aluta struggle. Students of Federal University, Otuoke were seen carrying on Friday carrying placards with inscription that they will not commit suicide neither will they suspend their studies.
As at the time of this report, it seems management is already resolving the matter as media posts suggest. More updates will be provided by Monday
