What is the difference between kola nut and bitter kola?

Bitter kola and cola nut are two different nuts altogether. While bitter kola have a spherical shape, kola nut comes in different but similar shapes ranging from round to oval shapes.

The bitter kola is bitter and taste a little like bitter leaf, whereas the kola nut is slightly bitter when chewed but leaves a pleasant sweet aftertaste.
