The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have agreed to suspend its eight months old strike action on conditions.
ASUU leadership came to a consensus during a meeting yesterday with the federal government team led by Dr Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment.
The meeting also concluded with an additional agreement to increase the previous agreed amount to N70 billion.
The federal government also agreed to settle the arrears of lecturers before December 31st.
According to ASUU Twitter handle, the union is expected to report the agreement to its organs and then communicate their decision to the government after which a date for the calling off of the strike would be announced.
