Abstract

This research is on the Utilization of Information and Communication Technology in Teaching Business Studies in Secondary Schools in Nembe Local Government Area, Bayelsa State. Some selected secondary schools which amounted to eleven (11) were used for the research. Thirty respondents were selected from each of the schools totaling three hundred and thirty (330) respondents. The researcher then used the instrumentation of the questionnaire to get responses from the respondents by administering the questionnaire to them. Same was collected after two weeks; the result was then collated, analyzed and interpreted thus: Information and Communication Technology create job employment, Information and Communication Technology gives vocational skills, Information and Communication Technology prepares students for job, and finally, that Information and Communication Technology improves the performance of vocational students. Information and Communication Technology improves teacher’s effectiveness, Information and Communication Technology ensures better understanding of subject matter by students, Information and Communication Technology does not necessarily ensures the use of technology in the classroom, and finally, Information and Communication Technology involves the use of instructional technology. Increased performance, Improvement of technological knowledge of vocational students, Broad knowledge of secondary vocational students, and finally, Provision of vocational students with specific job experience are some of the impacts of ICT on secondary school students. Consequently, recommendations were offered to guide the government, the educational administrators and the general public in ensuring better Information and Communication Technology oriented system.
