Abstract
This study on under five diarrhea disease and access to water: a case study of Ughelli metropolis was carried out in Ughelli metropolis. The aim of the study was to investigate the type of water parents of children with diarrhoea have access to use on Ughelli metropollis. The study explored the linkage between water use and diarrhoea in the area of study. The study used the Political Economy Theory to explain the research work. The study adopted the descriptive survey design. Central Hospital, Ughelli was used for the study. 98 respondents were interviewed. The instrument for the data collection was a self administered interview session. Four research questions were asked and the simple percentage was used as a statistical method. From the findings in the research, parents whose children have diarrhoea use water from sources that are compromised. Some recommendations were made amongst which were adequate and safe water should be provided by the state and mothers should be sensitize on the importance of hygiene practices.
