This research study is geared towards examining the impact of urbanization and crime in Amassoma. Specifically, it seeks to examine the factors responsible for burglary and to establish a relationship between Urbanization and Burglary in Amassoma. We adopted the Marxian Political Economy Approach as our Theoretical Framework. The method of data collection was both primary and secondary sources of collections. Hence, we explore both the cluster and random sampling technique. To this end, the sample size of the population was drawn from the 22 Ama’s (Compounds) in Amassoma. Respondents from the fieldwork were coded, tabulated, expressed and analyzed with Chi-square ( X2) and frequency table with simple percentage which were used to test the following hypothesis. H1: There is no significant relationship between urbanization and burglary in Amassoma. H2: There is a significant relationship between urbanization and burglary in Amassoma. Our findings confirmed the second hypothesis and revealed that there is a nexus between urbanization and burglary, that is, increase in population led to increase in criminality in Amassoma. After a thorough investigation of the study, recommendations were therefore made based on the results obtained. These recommendations include the need for government to equip and strengthen the law enforcement agencies and put in place competent security agents to deal with criminals accordingly. The study also apt that, government should create or provide employment and empowerment for the unemployed youths, either through direct employment or via skill acquisition programs, educationally, scholarships should be given to those who can and are willing to go to school in order to attain good education as this will help revive the lost values and norms of our society that is gradually being eroded.
