NDU Resumption Date: 5th October, 2020

The Niger Delta University is set to open non academic activities for students as management has approved October 5th for the re-opening of school to students to come in for their clearance, school fees payment and registration.

This information was contained in a bulletin released September 25th and signed by the Registrar, Mr. Benjamin Joffa.

The weekly bulletin reads in part: The committee of Provost and Deans (CPD) at its 134th emergency meeting held on Friday September 25th, 2020 reviewed its earlier decision on the closure of the university due to the Covid-19 pandemic and decided thus:

To re-open to students for the purposes of payment of fees, clearance and registration for the 2019/2020 academic session from Monday October 5th, 2020.

The University mandated that all students and members of the University community to strictly observe the Covid-19 protocols.

It also advised all students to posses personal hand sanitizers and face masks.

Our correspondents who paid a visit to the Registrar’s office confirmed the bulletin to have emanated from the University.

The content of the bulletin suggests that students are not receiving lectures yet but merely for continuation of all activities truncated by the Covid-19.

Those to resume includes freshers/100 level students who were unable to complete their clearance, fresh graduates doing their clearance, those who never did course registration, those who never opened Faculty file, students across all levels who never paid their school fees, medicals, skills acquisition, biodata, etc.

Concerns however, has been raised by the students’ community inquiring asking if returning students are affected by the bulletin.

Although there has not been any confirmation from management on that, the bulletin plainly suggest that any student who is engaged in clearance (100 level and graduates), registration and payment of school fees are expected to resume.

Visit our office now to pay all your fees: No. 1 NDU Road, Main Campus Gate, Amassoma – 08060699054

However, the bulletin did not mention that classes will commence immediately. Consequently, it can be said that this is a partial resumption.

Recall that ASUU is still on strike and the NDU is under ASUU hence, it will be difficult to resume without resolving ASUU pending issues.

Meanwhile, the VC has said NDU Post UTME examinations will be November, 2020 but gave no insights as to the actual date of the exams.

He made this known during his second radio talkshow held held Monday 21st September, 2020 when reacting to callers requesting to for insights on the Post UTME examination.

The VC stated that the University cannot be inviting applicants from far and wide to come to the University to write the examinations owing to the current pandemic.
