The aim of this write up is to critically evaluate Rawls’ concept of justice, to point out its inconsistencies and inequality that is noticeable in his claims despite his claim to espousing an egalitarian idea. I attempt to show that Rawls’ theory is only a speculation which can easily lead man astray in its implementation. Rawls’ attempt to describe the nature of justice as well as a construction of an ideally just state cannot serve as a paradigm for evaluating existing empirical states because of its primitive nature. How FAIR in his JUSTICE scheme? Can his theory be sustained? The foregoing is of central importance to this essay. However, the concept of justice has no settled or definite meaning today, as is evident in the existence of varied definitions and conceptions given to it by different social, political and historical theorist. It is against this background that Rawls’ scheme gives a social dimension to justice, hence, may be regarded as a contribution to social justice. Rawls two principle if practiced will lead to a chaotic society. Therefore, his theory cannot solve the problems of this contemporary society such as natural, economical, political and social inequality.
