NDU School of Basic Studies

“The Basic Studies programme is designed to improve the performance of secondary school leavers in SSCE, NECO, UTME and other equivalent examinations. The duration of the programme is one academic year of two semesters. Candidates are required to write examinations at the end of each semester and only those who perform creditably are admitted into the undergraduate programmes of the university. So far, the programmes are running smoothly and students gain admission with ease into their choice of study” (Sapere-Obi, 2019).

The NDU Basic programme is a preferred programme for many university admission seekers where admission possibility is very high and the school fees rate is preferably lower. In the NDU Basic programme, candidates who have deficiencies in their O’level results can also apply. Thus, the programme is a gap bridger that helps students resolve their qualificational challenges.

Again, as you may know, JAMB examinations has become a “thorn in the flesh” of many admission seekers. Year in, year out, many Jambites fail the UTME examinations, reattempting over again. This process and headache possed by Jamb is resolved when you apply for the NDU Basic. In essence, you say goodbye to JAMB problems.

The NDU Basic programme is managed by the School of Predegree and Basic Studies. The Office, located in Newsite, Wilberforce Island, manage both the Predegree and Basic Studies programmes simultaneously. All classes are held in Newsite and it is a fulltime programme.
