Various sources unanimously held that the major purpose of the demolition is to construct a flyover in the Tombia roundabout where market has overcrowded.
Others believed that the government needed to construct the flyover since the State’s only international airport is located in Amassoma road, a path that the Tombia junction plays a key route to its accessibility.

Over the last years, the Tombia roundabout market has been an avenue through which criminal elements have been perpetuating their criminal plans. Market women, buyers, Niger Delta University students, and members of the general public has suffered tremendously in that Tombia roundabout.
