Recall that the Federal Ministry of Education ordered the immediate closure of tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools nationwide following the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country and as part of measures to contain the spread on 19th March, 2020.

Currently, it is already one month, three weeks since the closure of universities, yet, no headway. There has been many fake news about resumption dates at several times, but the true state of affairs is that there is no resumption date now.
Since the closure of universities, many institutions have attempted to engage their students by making online learning possible. Some of these universities include LASU, Uniport, Federal Polytechnic, Nekede and lately Kogi State University. However, Schools like the Niger Delta University (NDU), FUO, DELSU, etc. have not made any attempt to commence e-learning.
Challenges of E-learning
As the public calls for the use of e-learning across universities, there is a seeming challenge that may bedevil the successful utilization of the channel. Currently, there is a challenge of low participation as most of the candidates cannot afford data, have no electricity to charge their devices amongst others. Many students have even complained of lack of concentration as a result of hunger.
Resumption Date for Universities in Nigeria
As at the time of publishing this report, there is no confirm resumption date. What students should be worried about is how to overcome the menace of coronavirus and not discussing resumption. Even if schools resume now, many parents wont allow their kids to resume schools.
Purported June 1st Resumption: Is Universities Resuming June 1st?
The ministry of Education has debunked the June 1st purported resumption date and affirmed that all schools remain closed to allow the Federal government manage the development and containment of Covid-19. So, for now, refrain from any resumption date news. It may be incorrect unless verified from the Federal Ministry of Education.
Updates on Niger Delta University (NDU)
NDU resumption date has not been announced. This is because the Federal closure affected NDU too. So, if you are asking for NDU resumption date, know that the NDU resumption date is till further notice.
Has NDU Started E-learning?
No. For now, no information about e-learning has been released by the management. All students are still at home and the school is currently a shadow of its former glory as all students has vacated the school premises.
When Will School Resume?
There is no hope on when school will resume now. For now, avoid the purchase of unnecessary items. Do not buy that suit. Weddings are not coming back anytime soon. Do not buy that electronics if you have less funds. Keep your resources for sustenance only. Even if you have more than enough, your neighbors may just need it.
