Professor Allen Aziba-Odumomsi Agih has been appointed the 5th Substantive Vice Chancellor of the Niger Delta University on Monday 19th June, 2023. A special release from the university’s governing council signed by the Registrar on the 9th of June, 2023 stated that the appointment is “sequel to the approval by the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State and Visitor to the University of the recommendation of the joint Council/Senate selection Committee”.

“The appointment is for a single term of five (5) years and takes effect from June 19th, 2023 the University added.
As a professor of Educational management who joined the University since 2002, Professor Allen Aziba-Odumomsi Agih has served the university in various capacities making him the preferred candidate for the office of the 5th Vice Chancellor.
Professor Allen Aziba-Odumomsi Agih has a noticeably humble and calm personality which the university described as “humility, dedication and discipline” and is convinced that “he will steer the university masterfully to achieve its set objectives”.
